Thermopsis montana (Mountain Golden Banner)
From CONPS: Native perennial of up to 2 1/2 ft that blooms early in summer. Often seen in colonies with elongated racemes of bright yellow flowers, this species spreads via rhizomes and should be planted where a colony is desired. Velvety seed pods spread outward from the curve. Golden banner is a valuable species for native plant gardens and pollinator plantings. The flowers are especially attractive to bumblebees. Not favored by herbivores.

Weber and the Synthesis of the North American Flora recognize T. montana, T. divaricarpa, and T. rhombifolia as distinct species. Welsh recognizes both T. rhombifolia and T. montana in Utah, noting, however, that Utah specimens of the latter "demonstrate a wide range of variation..., [but] there appears to be no basis for segregation of subordinate taxa".”
